Final Project (Summer)

Due: 7.3 by Noon

Final Overview (8:08)

Overview:

This can be done individually or in "groups" of two. If you want a bigger group, you'll have to convince me that you'll do more work...

In a nutshell, I want your questions, comments, thoughts, ideas so we can figure out what your final will be. (email is great)

In general you need to:

  1. Perform a simple needs assessment of an information organization that you think could benefit from use of social software
    • What is the purpose of the use of social software?
    • What is the problem that will be fixed? What is the service that will be enhanced? ...
  2. Provide a brief project proposal for the implementation of social software application(s) at that organization. (incorporate your needs assessment)
    • What do you want to do? Why?
    • Why do you think the approach you want to take is the best?
    • How will you gauge success?
  3. Provide a "mock-up" or demo of how your "system" will work

Topic Areas:

Approval needed for topic area but generally limitless.

Location:

Please link to everything you need to (presentation, examples, etc.) from your page on the class wiki. The proposal can be a file on the wiki, a google doc, just about anything as long as I can easily get to it.

Presentation:

Individual or group will informally* present their idea in a podcast in the final week.

Things that will make me happy

  • Effectively using Web2.0/Lib2.0 tools to explain/illustrate your idea(s)
  • Integrating multiple tools/approaches in your idea

Things that will make me sad

  • PowerPoint

Some good examples from last summer

(Note: that the final project was a little different last summer)

*I won't grade you on the quality of your presentation, but rather the quality of your project (though this is your chance to explain it to me)
